Well at least the new owners know going in that this decision is "crazy".And for the record, all those who said that rumours about majority owner Alan Cohen wanting out over a year ago were false, were clearly the ones OFFside. Unfortunately, the far majority of denials were from the NHL itself.Now, we can be reasonably safe in saying that the number of buyers out there for the Panthers (to remain in Miami) were limited to: (a) the existing ownership in Cohen, (b) SPA Corp. and (c) a rejigging of the sizes of existing ownership group's stakes. From the time Cohen was first rumoured to want out until today's news of the sale, very little interest in the Panthers could be drummed up. And that demonstrates that few options remain to keep this team in Miami once this "new" group cries uncle. more »
